Long Sleeve A-Line Gown
Hi Brides-to-be,
I recently had a plus-size bride come in wanting a long sleeved, A-line cut gown with a low-volume skirt. She liked a leafy, textured lace and didn't like beading.
I told her that I knew she'd think I was crazy, but that I had sold D3145 to a bride this year, without her trying it on. I was certain it was the right dress for this bride.
To help her visualise the dress, because I don't carry a sample of this one, I made her hold up D3023, which has the same lace as the D3145. I pinned on detachable sleeve from another dress, which helped her see the potential of the dress without her bare arms taking attention away from the feel. I then got her to try on Rain, which is a design by All Who Wander, because it has a similar skirt volume and fitting of the underskirt.
I reminded her she didn't need to make a decision right then and there but that I was sure the dress was exactly what she was after. She came back to me a short while later and told me she would order it with confidence!
The bride is a size 24 with a smaller bust. I had to recut the armscye to narrow the chest circumference as the bride's bust was too small for the size 24 dress. The set-in blouson sleeves were a great balancing detail for this bride's shape.
As you can see, one very happy bride .
