This blog post is about how body changes can affect your wedding dress. One of my brides ordered her Essence of Australia dress (D3247, size 18) exactly one year before her wedding. At the time, she was 11 weeks pregnant, and the dress fit her perfectly.

After her baby was born, she contacted me to share that she had lost 12 kilos due to gestational diabetes. This meant her dress was now four inches too big, which required major and expensive alterations. Despite the challenges, we managed to save her dress.

I’m sharing this story to show that you never know what life is going to throw at you. Many brides book appointments more than a year in advance, but I maintain my policy of scheduling fittings within a year of the wedding. This bride’s story reinforces why this policy is so important.
