Essense of Australia D3460 gown Alterations

Hi Brides-to-be,
Here's a lovely alteration story featuring the Essense of Australia D3460 gown.
My bride Kristina purchased the dress in a size 16, while my boutique sample is a size 12. She initially tried the size 16 in a Sydney store but decided to come to Wollongong so I could assist with both the purchase and the alterations.
At her fitting, Kristina began to second-guess the amount of cleavage showing — especially since her wedding was in a church. Thankfully, I had just purchased a yard of fabric to make a belt for her dress, which turned out to be a perfect solution!
I gave her two options:
- Add scalloped lace edging peeking around the neckline.
- Create a pleated band using the same fabric, positioned to blend seamlessly with the bodice and offer more coverage.
While I was demonstrating the second option, I got so excited I forgot to take a “before” photo — but I’ve included a picture of the same dress on another bride as a reference.
Kristina chose option 2, and the result is beautiful. The pleated band looks like part of the original design, subtly concealing the cleavage while enhancing the overall elegance. It's now a one-of-a-kind gown!
Thank you so much, Kristina, for traveling from Sydney to find your dream dress at Accapella Bridal.
With love,
Connie 💕
